One advisor. One business. A monthly rhythm.

The model in one line

Second Desk works with a small number of SME owners at a time, on a fixed monthly rhythm, to bring clarity to the decisions that matter most that month.

The first conversation

Before anything is agreed, we talk. This is a real conversation about where the business stands — not a sales pitch, and not a commitment on either side. It's how we understand whether the model actually fits what you need.

Setting the working rhythm

If it's a fit, we agree what the monthly sessions should focus on around your business — what to look at, and what a useful session should cover. The monthly rhythm stays consistent; what we use that time for can change as the business does.

The monthly working session

Every session runs on the same three questions:

What changed this month?

What's the one decision that can't wait?

What are we not looking at?

It's a plain, repeatable conversation — not a workshop, not a diagnostic tool with a name to remember. Just the same three questions, asked properly, every month.

What you receive afterward

A short, specific note on what the session surfaced and what to do next. Not a slide deck, not a lengthy report — something you can read in a few minutes and actually act on.

How the months build on each other

Nothing gets re-explained each time. We remember last month's conversation, so each session starts from where the last one left off — including flagging anything that's quietly drifted since.

Included

  • Business performance visibility — making sense of the numbers you already have, without new systems or dashboards.
  • Priority-setting — deciding what actually needs attention this month.
  • A decision sounding board — an independent view on a specific decision you're facing.
  • Operational issue triage — helping identify which problems are worth solving now.
  • A recurring outside view — someone who remembers last month and can flag what you're too close to see.

Not included

  • Hands-on execution — we don't run projects, manage staff, or implement changes directly.
  • Tax, accounting, or compliance services.
  • Multi-year strategic planning or transformation programmes.
  • Fundraising, legal, or HR advisory.
  • On-demand, ad-hoc availability outside the monthly rhythm — this is a paced model, not a hotline.

Who this works best for

This works best for an owner with an established, operating business who wants a steady, independent view before the next decision. If you need someone to execute changes directly, manage your books, or run a multi-year transformation, this isn't the right fit — and we'd rather tell you that now.
